Revo Rack: The Ultimate Lightweight Luggage Rack

Revo Rack is a completely new type of car luggage rack that eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the boot/trunk lid edge its universal design also allows it to fit any boot lid that takes the foot print of the rack, irrespective of size or shape.

With the Revo-Rack car boot rack no metal touches your car only soft rubber vacuum cups these use the pressure of the atmosphere to secure the rack to your cars boot or trunk.

Revo Rack is part of the boot-bag group, all they do and have done since 2008 is look for innovative ways to increase the luggage capacity of your convertible coupe or saloon.

In early 2016 they decided to look at making their own traditional luggage rack. The criteria was simple:

  1. Lightweight ( for composite and aluminium boot/trunk lids )
  2. Modern design for modern convertibles ( Z4,SLK,MX5 )
  3. Won't in any circumstance damage paintwork
  4. Simple and Innovative

The thing thats always put them off conventional luggage racks is the high risk and in the case of some designs certainty of paint damage, caused by clamping or strapping the rack to your car. Many modern convertibles also have very small panel gaps in the region of 3-4mm : that does allow room for a conventional boot/trunk edge clamp. Metal always ends up chipping or scratching your boot's edge or worse the surface, no matter how careful you are.

This car luggage rack is manufactured from 25mm/ 1" 6063-T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust )  As a result the rack frame weighs only 1.672kg / 3.6lb perfect for todays aluminium and composite boot/trunk lids. The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency, the rack is powder coated black. The rack measures 90cm x 42mm  /  36" x 17".

The rack is secured to your cars boot/trunk lid using three 115mm vacuum cups,  rated by the manufacturer as capable of holding an 18kg/40lb load each.

Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more reliable hold. Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the surface, distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage.

The Revo-Racks vacuum cup's pump feature a plunger with a red line, which serves as a vacuum indicator. Introduced in the1960's, this safety device is still recognized as one of the most reliable warning systems available. A few strokes of the plunger evacuate the vacuum pad, causing it to seal securely to the attaching surface. When the cup is attached completely, the plunger stops moving and the red line is hidden within the pump. A visible red line indicates if air has leaked back into the pad, making vacuum insufficient to use the cup. However, if the red line becomes visible while the cup is in use, a check valve allows the user to re pump the cup without losing the remaining vacuum.

Lifting on the release tab near the edge of the pad allows air to refill the evacuated space, so that the vacuum cup detaches completely. The racks sits 7.5cm / 3" off the boot/trunk lid. Click here to see a video of this rack being stress tested with a 25kg bag of cement!

Comes supplied with a cotton storage bag and two straps to hold luggage in place.

Fits all MX5 models, 1989>

Please Note: This can be used on NC retractable hardtop models, however it must be fitted with the hoop at the back of the car, and and the operation of the roof checked carefully. NEVER operate the folding roof whilst luggage is on the rack.

Also , due to the aluminium construction of the MK4 ND boot lid, there is a 10kg weight limit. it is not suitable for use on the RF model

Similar......was dubious at first, but this was first rate, no issues. 5 week tour of Spain & Portugal-at no time did this show signs of detaching.

Was a bit dubious if would stay on initially, but was very impressed. Had a big waterproof bag on rack full of camping bedding and other light items and was superb as pretty much doubled luggage capacity. It recommends checking every hour which I roughly did and not once had the suction dropped. Had a bit of trouble with one cup as boot wasnÆt wet enough but as soon as put on more water worked straight away. The only negative is how easy it is to remove so easy to steal but other than that a great rack, and thoroughly recommend.

Delivery Information - MX5 Parts

We understand that its really important for you to receive your goods in a timely fashion and for a competitive price. To ensure that we can deliver this we have developed a strategic partnership with both the Royal Mail and our courier partner, Think Worldwide.

At the present time, we only offer one delivery option ‘our carrier’. We will dispatch your goods with the most suitable carrier, for main land UK deliveries this is normally Royal Mail 1st class for packages weighing under 2kg and Think Worldwide for those that are over.

Our delivery charges are based on the weight of the consignment and the destination address. For UK mainland deliveries they start at £2.95 for a package weighing under 200g and rise to a MAXIMUM of £9.95 for a package weighing 2kg or over (EXCEPT very large bulky items that have an additional shipping surcharge added). The exact delivery cost will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Delivery times are estimated at 1-3 working days by Royal Mail, and 1-2 working days by Think Worldwide for mainland UK addresses. If you order before 3pm, Monday to Friday, we will dispatch the same day. If you order after 3pm, we will try to dispatch the same day, but if we cant it will be the next working day. Items ordered after 3pm Friday or over a weekend will be dispatched Monday. Items dispatched on Friday are for delivery the following week. Items ordered over a Bank Holiday will be dispatched the next working day. MX5parts is constantly updated to keep pace with changes in our stock but demand is high and we occasionally run out of popular items. If we have run out of stock and can’t dispatch your order the next working day, we’ll email or phone you with a revised dispatch date. You can then either accept the revised dispatch date or cancel the order, as you wish. Please note, shipping times are an estimate, and can not be guaranteed. Please note that during special offer periods, dispatch of your order may be delayed slightly due to high a volume of orders.

A signature is required for ALL orders delivered by Think Worldwide. Someone must be at your delivery address to sign for your parcel between 8am and 6pm on a working day. Please send it somewhere it can be reliably signed for, like your place of work, a neighbour, or perhaps your grans. We can (but we don’t like to) ask the courier to leave your parcel without a signature. If we do this, it will be YOUR responsibility if the parcel is lost or damaged. If you want it left, you need to give us your express instructions in the ‘additional information’ box at the end of the checkout process. It would be helpful if you could also indicate exactly where the package should be left.

If you need to change your delivery address, for any packages that have been dispatched with Think Worldwide, there will be an additional charge of £9.95 if the package has already been dispatched.

Please remember, even with Royal Mail deliveries, that any items which are too large to fit through your letter box will need someone to be available to receive the delivery. If the item cannot be delivered, you will be carded and given the option of either a re-delivery or you can collect your parcel from your local post office depot.

Orders sent to countries outside the UK will be sent VAT free, however please note that on all international shipments, the recipient is responsible for any local VAT, import duty and other clearance fees that may be charged.
